Up for grab this time around is a compilation of Swedish pop and jazz that I originally put together for my brother last year. The selection is stretching all the way back to 1968, although the vast majority is rather new stuff from the last couple of years. Almost all of them are instrumentals and a few tracks are not officially released in any format.
First up is an early number by psychedelic organ and drum duo Hansson & Karlsson that was presented as a cartonnage flexi disc to the readers of Swedish major morning paper Dagens Nyheter back in the 1960’s. First half of the comp follows in a rush tempo whereas things slow down somewhat towards the second half and ends at a solemn pace with a modern rendition of Swedish household name Monica Zetterlund’s ode to my sweet hometown of Stockholm.
